Give us some background on "Trademark Twitch." When and how did the band start?
Robert - I moved back to OKC in 2001 after playing a few years in the northwest. Joined several local rock bands over a 4yr period. Got tired of joining other bands and decided to put together my own band. I took players form those bands I thought would vibe good together and started the band we now call TMT in Feb. 2005.
Matt - Robert kept asking me to come jam with him because we used to play in a different band and he knew a couple of other guys that were looking to jam too. We started really rehearsing in 2005.
2. NSM
Where did you get the name?
Matt - When my wife falls asleep she twitches. I always called it her "Trademark Twitch". I brought it up at rehearsal one day and everyone seemed to like it.
3. NSM
Tell us some things about yourselves. How old are you, what do you do for a living, married/children, etc?
Matt - I'm 27. I've been married almost a year. I work as an electrician by day and a rock god by night.
Robert – Single, never married, no kids. Musician at night, pilot by day training air traffic controllers.
David - At present, I work in the restoration business. I also book shows for the band as well as handle a lot of decisions about merchandise, booking, promotions, etc. I am also currently attending a university to get a degree in information technology. I am not married or have ever been married and no children, but I have a golden retriever that is my friend and companion.
Diggy - I am a salesman for a print shop. Have 3 kids and a wife.
4. NSM
I checked out your CD Release party video. What was that experience like for you?
Matt - Our CD release was a great time. We have awesome fans and anytime we have a show everyone has a blast.
Robert - Self-fulfillment of recording/producing a full-length rock CD and being able to present it to the public!
David - That was a great experience! The really good stuff happens to be on the video! Hahaha
Diggy - Orgasmic we have the best fans. Lol
5. NSM
How long have you guys been playing live together?
Since early 2005.
6. NSM
What was your first live performance (together) like?
Matt - It was a hell of a lot shorter than it is now. I think we played an hour? I'm sure it sounded like it was our first show too!
Robert - Teddy's lots of support from friends. The first ones always the best!
Diggy - WOW..... It was something different lol, but what do your expect since we only practiced for 1 month.
7. NSM
Did any of you have musical training or are you self-taught musicians?
Matt - I used to play the drums in high school band and I started singing in church when I was 4 or 5 years old. I taught myself how to play guitar when I was 16. That’s probably why I'm not very good at it.
Robert - I've been playing since I was 8. Started taking lessons from John Powell at Driver Music in Bethany in 4th grade. Played all throughout Junior High and High School. Jazz, marching, concert, small ensembles, 1yr. college at OCU as a percussion major before deciding waste of time for this professional.
David - I have a little bit of musical training, but I am mostly self-taught.
Diggy - I took 4 guitar lessons and stopped it was too slow.
8. NSM
Who, in the band, writes your lyrics/music?
Matt - I write all of the lyrics and usually come up with the general idea for the songs. Then I'll play it for the guys and we roll from there. It usually takes us a couple of months to write a new song. I'd rather take a really long time to write one good song, then write a bunch of crap songs in a week.
9. NSM
A lot of bands/musicians are great in the studio, but can't reproduce that sound live for whatever reason. From the video I saw, it seems you guys perform just as well live if not better. What are your views on this and was it always like that for the band?
Matt - I've seen so many famous bands that suck live and it ruins the whole experience. I'd rather sound good and never be famous, than get a lot of money to play and not give the audience what they deserve.
Robert - Always better live!
Diggy - Our live shows are so much fun, you get to see the true sides of what TMT is.
10. NSM
When you travel to shows what do you do to kill time?
Matt - Listen to music. I usually drive the van, so I have to pay attention to the road. If I'm not driving I'm sleeping!
Robert - Hang out with fans and friends from MySpace who connect with us before that show. Plan ahead to make appearances and hand out flyers CDs etc. at the local gatherings and hangouts. Practice on my pad, shine cymbals; exercise with dips, sit-ups, and crunches. Sleep, eat, drink!
David - Call and text friends, fans, club owners, groupies, and such! haha We kid and talk about a lot of different subjects. We are a really colorful bunch! Lol
Diggy - We do tons of crazy stuff, but you can probably find us at the local Guitar Center or Mom & Pop music store.
11. NSM
On your list of influences you say "Everyone" which is a pretty interesting statement. Can you elaborate on this?
Matt - I have several musical influences. It's impossible to name just one. When it comes to writing I can be inspired by anything or anyone. It's really hard to nail down a few influences.
Robert - King King, The Flash, KISS, Gene Kruppa, John Bohnam, Mahamaad Ali, Stevie Wonder, Gene Autry, & Mike Portnoy.
Just to name a few.
David - We enjoy a lot of different types of music. Anywhere from Frank Sinatra to Slipknot. There are great talents in all Brands of musical expression.
Diggy - We all come from so many different styles and sound and bring it all together to make the "Eclectic Collection".
12. NSM
Out of all the songs you've recorded, which one is your favorite?
Matt- “One Night Show” hands down
Robert – “Shade I'm In”
