If you don’t mind, let the readers know more about you and your personal lives. What do you do for a living, what do you do for fun when you're not playing music, how old are you, married/children, etc?
Kenny Lawson – Guitarist: For fun, I like checking out other bands, hanging out with friends and family. I am a struggling musician, but on the side I work for a fiberglass company. I am old enough to not to do certain things, but young enough to still try them. I am engaged to a gorgeous woman.
Heather Kahler [Stormie] – Vocalist: For fun, I enjoy sky watching…storm chasing, etc. Seasonally, I enjoy volunteering at “The Heart Of Darkness” Haunted attraction. I am a freelance web/graphic designer, and also enjoy drawing and writing. I am as old as my tongue but older than my teeth. I have 4 talented children, with the oldest three being musicians as well. The oldest is the vocalist for the band “Triggerous”, and the other two play drums, and piano.

According to your websites, “Induced Coma” is going through quite an evolution process. Can you go into more detail about this journey and how it has made the remaining members stronger?
Kenny - I think the band is much stronger than it ever has been now since the addition of the two newest members, Dean and Heather, even during a transition of trying to find the right vocalist. I think when Heather came into the band, she brought a rougher edge to the music. I think a lot of people remember the band for it’s melodies in our music, and the melodies are still there, but the vocals carry the song the way they should with Heather.

I’m a bit confused on the new singer. Your home page mentions a female vocalist named Stormie and your blog mentions a new male vocalist, Kenni. Which one is the new singer?
Kenny - For a brief time we tried Kenni, but he wasn’t the right person for our band. Stormie fell into our laps by a mutual friendship, and now there is no looking back, we found the right singer.
NSM
This question is to the newest members. What made you decide to join “Induced Coma?”
Stormie - Kenny’s fiancé is a very good friend of mine that has gone way back in my life. After reuniting with her, I met Kenny, and told him that I was looking for a heavier band that wanted a female vocalist that could scream and sing. Being a co-owner of a karaoke business for about 8 years, I naturally sing to about anything, and after Kenny heard me sing, he decided to try me out with a few of their songs, and now I’m their newest singer.
NSM
How did each of you learn to play your instruments?
Kenny - I taught myself with my guitar and a chord book at 10 years old.
Stormie - I learned how to sing almost anything from Madonna to “Slayer” with karaoke, and as a mother, I definitely learned how to scream. (*laughs*) The deepest part of my scream was enhanced playing several male parts at the haunted house, such as “Pinhead” from the movie “Hellraiser”.
NSM
Where do you see yourselves 5 years from now?
Kenny - In 5 years we hope to be playing and inspiring thousands of fans as they sing our songs back to us.
NSM
Do you get any support from family/friends or your fans?
Kenny - I get the most support from my family, especially from Heather’s son Bryan, lead singer of “Triggerous.” So far, our fan base has really enjoyed the changes as well. Our friends are really looking forward to seeing how far we can take the band.
Stormie - Ditto.
NSM
How has that effected your lives as musicians?
Kenny - It makes me strive to be a better musician, and enjoy it more.
Stormie - Again. Ditto.
NSM
Tell us three of your musical heroes and what makes them so special to you.
Kenny -
1. Raymond Lawson – Saxophone player. He was my grandfather. He played for Lawrence Welk, NBC Orchestra, and the Bob Crosby Band (Bing Crosby’s brother).
2. Tom Scholz – Guitarist for “Boston”. I enjoy his sense of melody.
3. Scott Stevens – Lead singer for “The Exies”. His song writing ability is so unreal.
Stormie -
1. Maynard James Keenan – Singer for “Tool”, “A Perfect Circle”, and “Puscifer.” His lyrics have positively improved my life and the way I see it. He has the most creative outlook in all of music.
2. Trent Reznor – Singer for “Nine Inch Nails”. The man writes
the music for every instrument. Brilliant mind who also works with Maynard James Keenan.
3. Stevie Nicks – Singer for “Fleetwood Mac”. She is also a brilliant songwriter, with such an original voice. Still singing strong to this day, as she did when she first started singing with “Fleetwood Mac”.
All 3 of these people have really inspired the way I write and sing.
NSM
How would you describe the band's working relationship, as far as the musical process is concerned?
Kenny - What is there to say? We are family.
Stormie - I am really enjoying working with such a talented group of fine men. I look forward to the same relationship with them as Kenny speaks of.
